I recently got back to doing some outdoor projects in Los Angeles, and let me tell ya, it felt phenomenal to be out in the open air again. After spending almost two years mostly confined to studio shoots (by choice), stepping back into natural light finding creative inspiration outdoors was like rediscovering a part of me that had been dormant for too long. LA was the perfect place to make that happen — all things considered.
This time, I collaborated with two extraordinary humans, Julia Mindar and Raphaela Milagres. Both of them brought their top level energy, and we were able to create some incredible editorial glamour and swimwear shots.
The unpredictability of shooting outdoors, the way the light shifts, and the challenges of working with the elements – always pushes me to think on my feet and improvise in ways that I hadn’t in a while.
Getting out of the studio wasn’t just a change of scenery—it was like a creative reboot I guess? Being in such an killer environment with these two talented women reminded me why I love photography in the first place. The natural surroundings made the shoots feel more alive, more dynamic, and gave us opportunities to play with light and mood in ways that only outdoor locations can offer.
The shoot with Julia and Raphaela felt like a return to form outside, but also a leap forward. Here's looking forward to more exploration out-of-doors...
