It felt good to be creating again. Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to do some new studio and location work in Austin, and even though I only managed to get a few sets in, I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to be back in the proverbial groove. The "life happens" downtime preceded a bit of burnout this summer made it tough to stay consistently creative, but there’s something about being in Austin that always reignites that spark. The town has this energy—it pushes you, keeps you on your toes, and I felt that on every set I worked. Collaborating with new models and some familiar faces was exactly what I needed.
Every set I shot felt like a reunion, even if I was meeting some of the models for the first time. It’s that vibe I’ve missed—the human connection, the exchange of ideas, and the spontaneity that comes when you’re in the zone with a great team.
I didn’t overdo it, just a few sets here and there. But every one of them felt meaningful. Getting back to it was exactly what my creative soul needed.
And it’s just the beginning. October is going to be a busy month, with trips lined up for Los Angeles and then El Paso. Both are photography trips, and I’m already brainstorming some exciting ideas for those locations. Los Angeles always brings a certain level of intensity—something about the city pushes me (or anyone) to elevate my work. And El Paso, with its unique blend of culture and scenery, will bring its own flavor to the sets as it always does. Love that town.
Later in November, I’m heading to Mexico City. I’ve been wanting to shoot there for a while now, and this workshop is going to be so rad.
Each of these trips is a new chapter, and I’m looking forward to the inspiration they’ll bring. Here’s to the next few months of pushing boundaries, meeting new creative souls, and seeing what we can create together.
Super thanks to Lindsey Taylor Tierney, Jade Wade and Stephanie Joy.
