"Veladura"

I've been at this project, on and off, for better or worse, since about 2016. Many works have been created and chosen, scrapped and unchosen, and otherwise recreated in the last 8 years – all in aim of making this art book compendium.
Historically, "veladura" is Spanish word for a visual art technique that layers translucent elements to expose depth, and this more or less captures the essence of what I try to reveal through these images. It also can be interpreted, well, however you wish to interpret it. #iykyk
But it’s never been about meticulous planning; it’s about authenticity. These images aren’t technically perfect — they’re real moments, spontaneous and unpolished. I wasn’t after what’s obvious, but the fleeting truths that show up when you least expect them.
Light, shadow, and the spaces in between — they all have their own story. What you see here is only the beginning. There’s always more waiting just below the surface.
I cannot tell you how excited I am to see this project come to fruition. The book encompasses three core art forms that I love, but don't always get to create for others: erotica photography, poetry, and graphic design.
"Veladura" will be released on Feb 14, 2025, just in time for Valentine's Day.
